Meta tags decide what someone sees before they visit: the blue link and snippet in Google, and the card that appears when your link is shared. The generator gives you a working draft. The notes below cover how to finish it and where it goes.

How to use the tags you generated

Copy the Full HTML tab and paste it inside the <head> of the page. One title and one description per page. If your site builder already outputs them, edit its SEO fields instead of adding a second set.

Rewrite the title for the person searching

The generator joins your page title, keyword and brand with pipes and trims the result to 65 characters. That is a draft, not a finished title. Google’s title link guidelines ask for a title that is unique to the page, descriptive and concise, with no repeated keywords and the brand at the start or end.

So Running Shoes | running shoes | Acme becomes Trail Running Shoes for Wet Ground | Acme. Same keyword, one time, and a reason to pick your result.

Make the description a summary, not a keyword list

Google may show your meta description as the snippet under the title. Its snippet documentation says descriptions made of long strings of keywords are less likely to be shown, and that identical descriptions across pages don’t help. Say what the page offers and who it’s for, in one or two sentences.

Skip the meta keywords tag

A lot of people search for a meta keywords generator. Google is direct about it: the keywords meta tag is not used by Google Search and has no effect on indexing or ranking. That’s why this tool doesn’t produce one.

Add an image and URL before you share the page

The Open Graph tab covers title, description, type and site name. The Open Graph protocol also requires og:image and og:url. Without an image, a shared link usually shows as a bare card. Use the Open Graph generator to build the full set.

Mistakes that undo good tags

  • Two <title> tags: one from the theme, one pasted by hand.
  • The same description on every product or service page.
  • Placeholders left in, like “Your Page Title” or “primary keyword”.
  • Tags pasted into <body> instead of <head>.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about using this tool and its output.

What does this meta tag generator create?

A title tag, a meta description, four Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:type, og:site_name) and three Twitter card tags. The Full HTML tab joins them into one snippet. The tags are built in your browser as you click Generate.

How long should a title tag and meta description be?

Google sets no character limit for either. It cuts both to fit the screen, so put the words that matter first. Treat the title as a short label for the page and the description as a one or two sentence summary.

Can I generate a meta keywords tag here?

No, on purpose. Google says the keywords meta tag is not used by Google Search and has no effect on indexing or ranking. Your time is better spent on the title and description, which people actually read.

Does Google always show the title and description I write?

No. Google can build the title link from your headings, og:title or links pointing at the page, and it can show page text instead of your description when that matches the search better. A clear, specific title and description make it more likely yours are used.

Where do I paste the generated tags?

Inside the <head> of the page, once per page. If your site builder already has SEO title and description fields, use those fields instead of pasting HTML, so you don’t end up with two title tags.

Why does the Open Graph output have no image?

This tool covers the text tags. The Open Graph protocol also requires og:image and og:url, so add those before you share the page. The Open Graph generator on this site builds the full set, image included.
