Which WhatsApp messages are free?
1,000 replies a month
Each business number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. They don’t roll over. Charging starts at the 1,001st.
Chats from Click-to-WhatsApp ads
When a customer messages you from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad in the WhatsApp mobile app and you reply within 24 hours, messages are free for up to 7 days.
Good to know for India
- Businesses based in India must move their WhatsApp accounts to rupee billing by 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027 Meta stops delivering messages from their accounts that bill in other currencies.
- GST of 18 percent is added to Meta’s charges.

How much does a WhatsApp marketing message cost in India?
₹0.8631 per delivered marketing template, or $0.0118, on Meta’s rate card effective 1 October 2026. Marketing rates have no volume discounts.
Are WhatsApp replies free in India?
The first 1,000 replies a month on each business number are free. After that, each reply inside the 24-hour window costs the utility rate, ₹0.115. A chat that starts from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad is free for up to 7 days.
Does the rate depend on where my business is registered?
No. Meta charges by the country code of the number you message. Any business messaging a +91 number pays the India rate. One exception: one-time passcodes from a business based outside India cost the authentication-international rate, ₹2.4971.
Are there volume discounts?
Utility and authentication messages get cheaper in tiers as your monthly volume in a market grows, up to about 25 percent off at the top tier. Marketing messages and replies have no tiers.
Are Meta’s charges part of the ZynfoAI plan?
No. Meta’s message charges are billed separately from your ZynfoAI plan.
